Short, lively missions for Bangkok kids—mixing real Mandarin, Thai-friendly support, workplace role-play and a sensible path toward recognized Chinese exams.
Children’s classes at B13 are not generic language lessons with Chinese words dropped in. They are built on teaching theories developed in China, for Chinese, and adapted for early childhood. Here is what each one is, who developed it, and what it actually looks like in your child’s hour.
01情境教育
Situational Education
Li Jilin 李吉林
Developed for primary-school Chinese teaching, now widely applied to early-childhood language learning.
Core idea
Build a vivid, concrete scene that moves the child emotionally. They perceive, understand and use Chinese inside a realistic context—authentic imagery, genuine feeling, reasoning embedded in experience.
In your child’s lesson
Sentences arrive inside a scene rather than as isolated vocabulary drills, which is what makes a young child want to speak. Our first choice for early HSK and YCT listening-and-speaking lessons.
02活教育
Living Education
Chen Heqin 陈鹤琴
A cornerstone of Chinese preschool education, covering both first- and second-language acquisition in young children.
Core idea
Nature and society are the living teaching material. Language is taught whole rather than broken into characters for rote memorisation, and acquisition is folded into daily activities, games and observation.
In your child’s lesson
Your child gathers vocabulary and real conversation through lived experience—snack time, weather, a game—instead of mechanical recitation.
03续论
Learning by extension
Wang Chuming 王初明
Developed for teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages; simplified here for young learners.
Core idea
The learner continues a passage the teacher has started. Contextual continuity carries them forward, which lowers speaking anxiety and lets acquisition happen through interaction.
In your child’s lesson
The teacher says half a sentence and your child finishes it. Turn-taking practice with almost no pressure—useful for shy or cautious children.
04产出导向法
Production-Oriented Approach
Wen Qiufang 文秋芳
Designed for teaching Chinese as a second language; simplified for older preschoolers and school-age children.
Core idea
A simple communicative task comes first. The child attempts it, both of you see the language gap, targeted teaching follows, and the task is completed again.
In your child’s lesson
Chinese is learnt for real communication rather than pattern drills—invitations, shopping, asking for help. The same approach runs our adult classes.
05字本位
Character-based Approach
Xu Tongqiang 徐通锵 · Lü Bisong 吕必松
Adapted for introducing Chinese characters in early childhood.
Core idea
The character is the basic unit of Chinese. Characters combine into words and words into sentences—unlike the word-based structure of European languages.
In your child’s lesson
Children master a core set of characters first, then build words and sentences from them. This is how early Chinese literacy is introduced honestly.
HOW A TEACHER CHOOSES · 教学设计
No single theory runs the whole lesson.
Your child’s teacher reaches for whichever one fits the goal in front of them—and usually blends two or three inside a single hour.
情境
Situational EducationFirst choice
Sparks listening and speaking through a real-life scene.
活教育
Living Education
Folds language into daily life and games; no isolated drills.
续论
Learning by extension
Interactive turn-taking that lowers anxiety about speaking.
POA
Production-Oriented Approach
Task-driven practice for simple communicative dialogues.
字本位
Character-based Approach
Character learning and the rules for building words.
MANDARIN FOR ADULTS · 成人中文 · ภาษาจีนสำหรับผู้ใหญ่
Still playful. Built for real life.
Adults learn through purposeful conversation, not childish material. B13 keeps the visual energy and friendly coaching, then adapts every lesson to your life, work and reasons for learning.
Order naturally, ask for directions, make plans and handle the small conversations that make daily life easier.
02职
职场中文 · ภาษาจีนสำหรับการทำงาน
Professional Mandarin
Practise introductions, meetings, polite follow-ups and client conversations around your actual role and industry.
03家
家庭中文 · ภาษาจีนเพื่อครอบครัวและความสัมพันธ์
Family & connection
Build warm, useful language for partners, relatives, heritage, travel and the people you want to understand better.
THE METHOD BEHIND ADULT CLASSES · 产出导向法 · POA
Production-Oriented Approach.
Adult lessons at B13 follow the Production-Oriented Approach—an original Chinese teaching theory built for one specific problem: learners who have studied for months and still cannot speak. You attempt the real task first, discover what you are missing, learn exactly that, and do the task again before the lesson ends.
THE USUAL SEQUENCE
Vocabulary → grammar → speak later
Students learn passively. They finish the unit, then find they still cannot hold the conversation. Learning stays separated from application.
反转FLIPPED
POA SEQUENCE
Attempt → find the gap → learn → do it again
Learning is driven by production. The task comes first, the language follows because you needed it, and the task is repeated with feedback.
Compared with Communicative Language Teaching (CLT): CLT practises language in situations while learning goes on, but has no dedicated stage for a first attempt at output. POA makes that attempt the starting point—try and identify weaknesses, then targeted learning, then complete the task again.
01驱动
Motivating
Attempt the real task first
Your teacher opens with a genuine communicative task—inviting a friend out this weekend, ordering in a café, introducing your role at work. You attempt it straight away. A perfect performance is not required.
→You feel exactly which words and sentence patterns you are missing, and that gap becomes the motivation to learn.
02促成
Enabling
Learn only what the task needs
The teacher supplies the vocabulary, sentence patterns and model sentences your attempt showed were missing. Scaffolding moves step by step from short phrases to full sentences, then into repetition and dialogue practice.
→Every item you study is prepared for the task in front of you—not for a generic textbook unit.
03评价
Assessing
Review together, then say it again
Assessment runs through the whole lesson rather than after it. Teacher and learner review the spoken output side by side, name the mistakes and the fixes, and you produce the task again.
→Teacher–student collaborative assessment: you hear the correction and immediately use it.
WORKED EXAMPLE · HSK 1–2 · ONE-TO-ONE
“Invite a friend out this weekend.”
The same five steps run inside a single lesson, so you leave having said the thing you came to learn to say.
1
Opening task
Today’s goal: invite a friend out this weekend, in Chinese.
2
First attempt
You speak freely. Scattered words come out, full sentences do not. The gap is now visible to both of us.
3
Targeted teaching
You learn the phrases the task needs—plans, inviting, going out—with sentence-reading drills.
4
Second production
You run the complete dialogue again, this time end to end.
5
Assessment
Pronunciation and sentence structure corrected, then spoken once more.
Four core principles · 四大原则
学习中心
Learning-centred
Every classroom activity aims at effective learning rather than at superficial interaction.
学用一体
Learning meets use
New language is used the moment it is taught, so study and practice stay connected.
文化交流
Intercultural communication
Language study carries the cultural context you need to use it with real people.
全人教育
Holistic education
Confidence and communication skills are nurtured alongside language proficiency.
In one sentence. POA gives you a communicative task to attempt first, so you identify your own weaknesses, receive focused teaching on exactly those, redo the task and improve with ongoing feedback—newly learnt language is put to use straight away.
A PROFESSIONAL LEARNING PLAN · แผนการเรียนที่ชัดเจน
Clear goals. Human coaching. Useful progress.
Each adult course begins with the situation you need Mandarin for. Your teacher identifies the language gap, chooses a realistic speaking outcome and adjusts the pace from evidence in the lesson—not from a generic textbook calendar.
